Choose audio and subtitles separately
An original-language film can have several viewing editions. Select the spoken language and subtitle language inside the player. A language category in this catalog is not a complete list of tracks offered by every service.
When captions are missing
Check the selected episode and edition. A subtitle track available on one season or service may not appear on another. Look in the audio and accessibility menus before assuming the movie has no captions.
When dialogue and text differ
Dubbed dialogue and translated subtitles can use different wording. That does not automatically mean the captions are out of sync. Compare the timing of a clear spoken line before changing a delay setting.
Make captions comfortable
Where customization exists, adjust size, contrast and background for the screen. Small text across a living room is harder to follow than the same text on a nearby laptop. Leave enough picture visible to enjoy the scene.
Fast conversations and unfamiliar names
Captions can help with restaurant dialogue, crime dramas and names you are hearing for the first time. Pause for context when necessary, but leave detailed episode recaps until after watching if you want to avoid spoilers.
